Brief Self-Introduction
A serial entrepreneur who has been building and growing businesses since 1997, Ng Shone Fone (Shone) is a strategist and a committed
entrepreneur. He holds top leadership positions in 10 businesses, including start-ups in the field of industrial equipment import and
distribution, equipment manufacturing and export, instrument repair, ISO 17025 calibration and material testing services, software
development, business consultancy, as well as technical and soft skills training.
Passionate entrepreneur Shone was anxious while managing his 10 micro-companies in Malaysia. Realising that his businesses wouldn’t scale if he didn’t make a change in his perspective and that it’s hard to survive in this challenging and agile time, Shone set out on a journey to find innovative ways to grow his small companies to the next level.
He eventually came across the book “Measure What Matters” by John Doerr. After reading it, he understood how to conduct employee performance assessments, what levels to coach for, and how to measure success numerically. The book helped him develop a new level of confidence as an entrepreneur, and he is convinced that any company that adopts the KPI tools and framework will be able to achieve spectacular success.
In 2019, Shone and Bernard founded DoerHRM with the goal of helping small business owners and entrepreneurs stay focused on their most important goals, improve their employee productivity, and build a high-performing team.
As the solution started to mature, DoerHRM began onboarding a publicly-traded company, small businesses, and a variety of other Malaysian companies from various industries.Â
In addition to Shone’s journey with DoerHRM, it’s worth mentioning that he didn’t just stop at implementing KPI tools and frameworks within his own companies. Recognizing the transformative power of these methodologies, Shone took it upon himself to share his knowledge and experience with other entrepreneurs and business owners.
Understanding that the effectiveness of KPIs hinges not just on their implementation but also on the understanding and utilization by the people within the organization, Shone initiated KPI training programs. Through these programs, he successfully grew a cohort of skilled coaches who could guide others in setting meaningful metrics, tracking progress, and driving success through focused goal-setting.
